BOOKACE™ - World's First Luxury Bookcase

BOOKACE™ - World's First Luxury Bookcase —

A home for the book that matters most — the first product we built for ourselves, from a blank page to a shelf.

BOOKACE™ is the world's first luxury bookcase designed to honor and preserve the Holy Quran. Its debut piece, Rahl Al Noor, is one elegant form with two functions: a high-gloss protective case that, in a single motion, opens into a precision-angled reading stand. It was conceived, named, designed, engineered, packaged, produced and brought to market entirely by Everythink — our first venture as a maker rather than a studio for hire.

The Challenge

In many homes, the Quran is deeply respected yet placed on a shelf or a table without real protection. The traditional rahl offers support for reading but nothing for storage; boxes and pouches offer storage but nothing for reading. Nobody had made an object that did both with the care given to the most cherished things in a home.

The challenge was twofold. First, to design the object itself: a single form that protected, displayed and supported the book, that felt worthy of what it holds, and that could be manufactured consistently to a luxury standard. Second, to build everything a product needs to exist in the world — a name, an identity, a story, a package, a supply chain and a launch — with no client brief, no client budget and no one to hand the difficult decisions to but ourselves.

What we did

We began with the object, not the brand.

The form was developed through successive prototypes until the transition from closed case to open stand became a single intuitive movement. Adjustable side panels set the reading angle; a wide base keeps the piece stable through page turns; hidden magnetic closures hold the lid, the storage compartment and the support legs. Inside, velvet lining protects the book. Outside, a piano-gloss coating gives the piece its architectural presence. The mechanism is now protected by a registered patent.

The name came next. Bookace fuses "book" and "case" into one word — the way the product fuses two objects into one — and reads as an ace, a mark of the finest. Beneath it sits the product name Rahl Al Noor, "the stand of light", which ties the piece back to the traditional rahl while pointing to what it holds. The wordmark is set clean and quiet so that the object, not the logo, carries the luxury.

The launch collection was built around three finishes with three personalities: Rosewood for classic warmth, Emerald Green for a royal statement, Walnut Brown for understated interiors. Each was sampled and re-sampled against the same coating, hinge and velvet specifications until the three read as one family.

Because BOOKACE™ was always intended as a gift, the packaging was designed as part of the product rather than around it. Every piece ships with a velvet protective pouch, a luxury presentation box, an official authenticity card, a microfiber cloth, a scented bookmark and a custom carry bag — a sequence that makes the moment of giving feel as considered as the object.

We then took on the part design studios usually leave to others. We sourced and qualified manufacturing partners, ran sampling rounds for the hinge, coating and velvet, set quality-control standards, and built inventory and fulfilment across our Doha and China operations so that a piece ordered in Qatar arrives exactly as it left the sampling table.

Finally, we built the brand's voice and its go-to-market: the bilingual brochure, the e-commerce site, the product film, the social channels and the positioning for six gifting contexts — corporate and executive gifting, hotels and hospitality, Quran competitions and religious centers, Eid and Ramadan, luxury home styling and weddings. The launch was timed to Ramadan, when a gift of this kind carries the most meaning.

Outcome

BOOKACE™ launched as a complete brand and a complete product: a patented mechanism, a three-finish Signature Edition, a full gifting experience and a bilingual presence in market, all designed in Qatar. Within its first Ramadan it was being chosen as a meaningful Ramadan and VIP gift and drawing bulk and customization enquiries from corporate and hospitality clients.

For the studio, it proved something we had long believed: the same discipline we bring to a client's brand — starting from the truth of the thing, refusing clichés, sweating every detail — holds up when the thing is our own, and when the work does not stop at the artwork but continues through the factory, the warehouse and the customer's hands.
